“Neighborhood Innovation Laboratory. Our waste, our compost!” With this name, the team from Lusaka (Zambia) reached the final stage of the Local Innovators Program 2022 and received the second distinction.

The project seeks to promote the separation of waste at source, while increasing the collection of organic waste for composting in schools. It happens that 70% of Lusaka's population Lusaka lives in informal settlements and the waste that accumulates affects the groundwater.

The initiative is led by Charity Chinsenda Kalombo, member of the Lusaka Municipal Council, and Patrick Salubusa, from the social entrepreneurship “Zed Entertainment”.
