With a focus on social transformation, the Local Innovators Program is in its seventh edition

Almost 100 teams are participating in the proposal that unites, trains and accompanies collective projects with impact in Latin American cities.

The Local Innovators Program (PIL) promises, once again, to make a positive impact in cities around the world. With the aim of addressing priority problems in dozens of communities, this six-month proposal offers a methodology of systemic innovation and a team of facilitators, mentors and experts, who will be there to guide participants in the design and development of collective solutions.

In addition to bringing together local government leaders and social entrepreneurs, the PIL continues with the experience of communicators implemented in 2022. They join the teams to tell, under different formats and platforms, the stories that emerge from each of the initiatives of developed impact.

The launch of the 2023 Local Innovation Program took place on February 15, 2023 with two ongoing events, one in Spanish and one in English. Specialists in innovation and systemic thinking shared experiences of former participants, reflections and the objectives of this ambitious proposal.

“We learned a methodology that led us to do a very in-depth analysis of the problem, which social actors were impacted, to obtain a lot of information and to talk to people”.

– Claudio García, participant of PIL 2022

Global in-person

With a focus on looking at society's challenges from a different perspective, planning higher-impact strategies, and cultivating skills for change, the program seeks to inspire participants to become agents of transformation in their communities.

This year, the 2023 Local Innovation Program has managed to bring together 97 teams made up of local government leaders and social entrepreneurs from around the world. Diversity and international collaboration will be key elements to generate innovative solutions with systemic impact.

With a global presence, the 2023 Local Innovation Program will cover 22 countries and will take place in 88 cities from different regions of 4 continents of the world. This broad participation demonstrates the commitment and willingness of local actors to address the specific challenges they face in their respective communities.

Over the coming months, program participants will work closely with the community to design and develop solutions to address priority issues in their cities.

“It is an experience that invites us to focus on realities from different perspectives and manages to change some stereotypes that we have learned. It is possible to “unlearn” certain habits and have a much more empathetic and collective vision of the problem being treated.”

– Pablo Enrique Mata González, participant of PIL 2022

The 2023 Local Innovation Program is structured into four thematic axes: Economic Opportunities, Sustainable Habitats, Inclusion and Equity, and New and Different Capacities.

This initiative is based on a fundamental belief: it is possible to transform current problems into valuable opportunities through the collaboration, energy and capabilities of diverse social actors. By adopting a systemic innovation methodology and fostering collaborative leadership, this program aims to drive meaningful change in participating cities and promote a more humane and sustainable approach.
